last couple weekends

me and sean drove up to lunch peak at 7,ooo feet last friday... it's just south of pend orielle mount. we camped in his car that night and woke up to 3 inches of snow... we hiked down 1,ooo feet to lake darling and stayed there that night.... when we got there we started yelling at the top of our lungs because the bowl echoed like it was nobodies biznaz .... then like ten minutes later a bunch of hunters came because they thought we were hurt .... it was hard not to feel girly when we were explaining that we were just excited ... they just kind of looked at us and asked if we had any whisky..... awkward..... well the hike down to the lake was neeto... it was a pretty extreme climate change it went from snowing to raining pretty quickly.... we weren't there too long before we started a huge flaming inferno of awesomeness.... i'll post pictures later.... it rained all night and sean got soaked but i was toasty mcoatsy in my schwank new kelty o degree bizag...so he couldn't sleep and in the morning he couldn't get a fire started so he was freezing all night.... then i woke up and was nice and toasty..... we packed everything out and got lost a couple of times..... we hiked 16 miles of logging road lost and cold that day and then got two rides to the top.... when we got to lunch peak there was five inches of snow.... crazy!? no?!
this weekend we hiked into stevens lake.... it was crazy the hike was grueling but worth it .... after we set camp we hiked to the top the geological marker said it was 6836 feet... the hike along the ridge felt like i was hiking over the pass in the return of the king.... i t felt like a fairy tail weaving through mountain mist and 3o foot tall jagged rock it was awesome.... we hiked down to upper stevens lake and went for a swim... it felt like .... when you stick a drink in the fridge and pull it out and it has sheets of ice that you can feel as you drink it down.... it was nice and refreshing but when i got out the wind picked up in the upper bowl and i stopped feeling some of my appendages... pretty uncomfortable...when we got back down we chopped up some huge dead tree and had a nice fire.... oh yeah!!! i got this sweet little stove .... it's probably the best thing i have besides my pack and my bag..... oh well.... it was lots of fun......

in october i'm going surfing of the oregon coast!!!!!!
pics on the way

it's hard to sit by
and watch a good thing die
like a dream that's stamped out
by one tiny rain cloud
it's hard to let go
when holding on is all you know
and your memories and thoughts
turn sour and rot
it's hard to hold down
this love that we've found
in corduroy pants
and you can't dance
it's hard to makes sense
of these words in this tense
written across space
sent undercover of lace
